Peter Pan Jr

Based on the Disney film and J.M. Barrie's enchanting play, Disney's PETER PAN JR. is a modern version of the tale about a boy who wouldn't grow up! Wendy Darling loves to tell stories to her brothers, Michael and John. But when her father announces she must move out of the nursery, Peter Pan comes to visit the children and whisks them away to Never Land. Their adventure introduces them to the Lost Boys, Mermaids, Indians and even the infamous pirate, Captain Hook!

Welcome to the 2014 Great Oak Drama Club! Our play this year will be “Disney’s Peter Pan Jr.” There are many characters and plenty of parts to play, both on stage and off. Please keep in mind the following for those involved:

  • School always comes first. Rehearsal and shows are not excuses to skip homework assignments. If you have down time during rehearsals, you can use that time to do some homework.

  • Be respectful.

    • Of yourself and others. We are all working hard together to put on a great show. Talking out of turn or being mean to each other will only hurt us in the end.

    • Of the space. We are guests in the theatre. Please clean up after yourselves.

    • Of things. Of costumes, props, microphones and other things that are needed for the show. Please treat them very carefully. Accidents happen, but let an adult know right away so we can try to fix it.

  • Rehearsals are not optional. We have a very limited amount of time to put together this production. Rehearsals will be Monday through Thursday after school until 5pm. Not all will be required to be there every afternoon. You must be present at rehearsals for which you are called. Conflicts must be written on your audition form, and we will take them into consideration when we make the rehearsal schedule. Students who have more than two (2) unexcused absences from rehearsals will be asked to leave the cast. (Extenuating circumstances, such as illness or family emergencies, will be taken into consideration and student will not be penalized)

  • Practice at home. Since we only rehearse for a short period of time, it is very important that you practice on your days “off” so that we can keep everybody moving forward.

To be cast in this show, you must audition on either Monday, September 8th (for 7th and 8th grade students) or on Tuesday, September 9th (for 6th grade students), starting after school until approximately 5:00pm in the music room. You may be asked to come to callbacks on September 11th, after school until 5:00pm.

Everyone who auditions will be cast in the show. Before you audition, make sure to look at and review all rehearsals and performance times and plan accordingly. Our first rehearsal is on Monday, September 15th for the full cast.

There is a $45 participation fee to be a part of this production. This money is to help cover the costs of show rights. If this is a true hardship, please let us know. Cash or a check made out to Great Oak Middle School is due by the first rehearsal (September 15, 2013).
